New Unit, Stats Functionality, and Placeholder Art
Added a new unit, the "Toad Tosser". This unit comes with our new Splash/AoE damage feature to be able to counter bigger groups of enemies; particularly if a lot of low health units like Skeletons have grown into a ball of death.
The Toad Tosser is a Voodoo themed Troll who throws explosives poison toads at any enemy in range. The toad explosion will hit nearby enemies.
Our units stats are now functional. Every time a unit is damaged a process calculation on the target hit will run on the damage payload. This means that penetration will correctly ignore armor and elemental resistances, while all the different elemental resistances and armor will of course also reduce damage accordingly. The system implemented is a simple yet clean percentage based system, with 0 to 100% values.
The stats we have and are working with currently are as follows:
- Penetration (Penetration can be both physical and elemental, depends on the elemental property)
- Armor
- Fire Resistance
- Frost Resistance
- Lightning Resistance
- Poison Resistance
- Nature Resistance
- Holy Resistance
- Shadow Resistance
We have also upgraded some of the placeholder graphics with even more cubes, making them almost appear like their fantasy. For example, the Lancer is now riding a horse with a lance and shield, while the Necromancer has gotten thinner and recieved a head and a staff for visual appeal. We're working on proper graphics, but it will take a while to get there since we're shorthanded in the graphic department.
There has been a bunch of minor balance changes on unit stats, since we're still trying to find a sweet spot for what each units strength should be compared to their cost and counter capabilities.
The map has also recieved a minor change. The middle part of the map has been hollowed out and the trees have been removed. They didn't feel appropriate for the sea/beach theme of the current prototype map; therefore it will simply feature a hole now. Which actually visually breaks up the design much better in the end.
